Although people don't typically think about their death, for estate planning purposes, it may be helpful. For those in Connecticut, it is never too early to begin estate planning, especially for people with valuable assets or people with clear intentions on where their money should go. One woman's generous donation serves as a good example of how beneficial proper estate planning can be.

Recently, the North Carolina Zoo Society received a donation of $1 million from one woman's estate. Officials at the zoo say that the woman told them about her intentions ten years ago.

The woman died on May 17, but her will indicated that the money from her estate should go towards the purchase and management of wilderness areas to benefit wildlife that are native to North Carolina.

Officials say they are very pleased that the woman chose the zoo to carry on her love for nature.

Whether allocating money to a zoo or leaving behind valuable real estate, anyone in Connecticut and elsewhere would benefit from estate planning. Life is full of uncertainties, but having the proper plans in place can reassure an individual that their assets will be appropriately allocated.

Those in Connecticut who are just beginning to plan an estate would do well to consult with an experienced estate planning attorney. An attorney can help an individual determine what options may be the best for them depending on the complexity of their estate and give them the peace of mind that their valuable assets will be taken care of even when they are gone.
